Q: I have white powder on my basement block walls. Is this a Problem?
A: The white powder might be mineral deposits (effervescence) left behind after some
moisture had penetrated the foundation walls. This powder usually isn't the real problem,
but having the moisture that brought it there could be. This moisture could be one of
the key components necessary to promote mold growth. Although there are different ways
to control this incoming moisture, this must be stopped prior to finishing off your basement.
Q: How long does it take to finish a basement?
A: Depending on the scope of your project and wants, it could take up to 4 or 6 weeks
to remodel or finish your basement.
Q: My basement never seems to be warm enough. Is that a problem if I want to use this space to entertain?
A: It depends. In most cases we can utilize existing duct work to create additional supply
and returns. If you want to really create a space that you can control the heating and cooling,
we would possibly suggest adding another zone to your furnace. This allows this space to have
its own thermostat for better control.
