The Blaine flooring project featured a window-pane pattern that spanned the entry foyer, hallways and mudroom. The kitchen and dining room incorporated a hickory border around a solid porcelain tile field. The hickory border also framed the carpeted family room.
Tomco’s used a special decoupling membrane and substituted flexible color-matched caulk for mortar between dissimilar materials to prevent cracking that had plagued the original marble floor.
NARI members from Milwaukee judged and scored Minnesota CotY Award entries based on meeting client needs, functionality, aesthetics, superior craftsmanship, innovation and degree of difficulty without knowing who designed and built the projects.
